Compressors that provide filtration of water in the aquarium come in two types: external and internal.

External compressors are recommended for installation in large aquariums. They are of impressive size and look like a canister, inside of which there are several filter fillers and tubes. They work efficiently, but are noisy enough, so it is not recommended to install an aquarium with such a compressor in the bedroom.
Internal filtration compressors are more economical, have compact dimensions, and create a low noise level in operating mode. This system is a small plastic container, inside of which there is a ceramic filler and a pump pumping water. This unit can be installed in an aquarium with a volume of 20 to 200 liters. In large tanks, it is used as an additional filter.
