Before trying modern taiyaki, it is worth getting acquainted with the original recipe, which began the story of the “happy” cookies in the form of a fish.

The classic taiyaki recipe includes the preparation of dough and filling from adzuki beans. The red beans are soaked overnight, then boiled until soft and ground with sugar to a pasty state. This sweet filling gives taiyaki a distinctive taste and is perfect for the first acquaintance with a Japanese dessert. You can buy it ready-made or make it yourself according to our recipe.

To create a fish shape at home, it is easier to use a waffle iron with a special replaceable unit, which is not difficult to find on any marketplace.

Ingredients:
Basic:

wheat flour — 170 g
milk — 210 ml
chicken eggs — 1 pc.
sugar — 50 g
baking powder — 2 g
baking soda — 3 g
vegetable oil (for a waffle iron) — 5 ml
For the filling:

azuki beans — 250 g
sugar — 100 g
water — 2 liters
Cooking method:
For the filling, soak the beans in advance, the optimal soaking time is 12 hours. This will significantly reduce the cooking time.
